Barker ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday

Managing Editor

A ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of a road widening project on Barker Road is planned for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, at the northern section of the new pavement (north of Garland Avenue). Parking is available in the CAD (Conveyed Aggregate Delivery) parking lot located at 4321 N. Barker Road.

This $2.35 million project, which began this summer and recently concluded, involved reconstructing and widening Barker Road to three lanes from Euclid to the Barker Grade Separation.
The project also involved the addition of curbs and gutters, stormwater facilities, and new sewer infrastructure. The city of Spokane Valley and Spokane County partnered together to complete this project. The city paid for the street improvements and the county designed and installed the sewer.

Representatives from local businesses, nearby residents and the media are invited to celebrate the completion of this project. Those attending will hear brief remarks by a representative from the city followed by a ribbon cutting.
