City receives award to study economic potential of Appleway Trail

Managing Editor

The city of Spokane Valley was awarded $25,000 by the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board to complete an economic development study for the Appleway Trail project.

The 5.1-mile trail, which has its last section expected to be completed in the spring of 2020, could be used as a catalyst to spur new businesses and job growth along the Sprague Avenue corridor.

These CERB funds are matched by $8,333 in local resources.
CERB projects represent an important partnership between state and local communities resulting in enhanced economic vitality.
Spokane County was one of eight counties in Washington State to receive a CERB award and is the only project that received this award in Spokane County.
