Spokane County Library District invites the whole family to enjoy a day outdoors full of entertainment and exploration at the “Pop-up Library: Summer Celebration,” on Saturday, June 16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For one day only, the Pop-up Library will be located next to Balfour Park on East Sprague Avenue, west of University Road and across from Spokane Valley City Hall.
Adults will feel like kids again while playing giant sidewalk games and building with huge blue blocks from the Imagination Playground. Speaking of building, kids will love the chance to touch and explore massive construction trucks. Plus, kids of all ages can hear the children’s story “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Willems along with other humorous stories while on a Spokane Transit bus.
All ages can come to get a library card and check out books. The Friends of the Spokane Valley Library will host a used book sale.
The Willows perform will also perform folk music. And treats and tacos will be available for purchase around lunchtime from local food trucks.
Special events at the Pop-up Library include:
- Friends Used Book Sale ($3 bag sale), 10a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Touch some big trucks, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Touch-a-Bus Storytime with Spokane Transit, 11 a.m. – noon
- The Willows, a tribute to Peter, Paul & Mary, 2 – 3 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Spokane County Library District.
