The council approved funding to support nine entities, including:

  • Oktoberfest, $10,000

  • Spokane Co. Fair & Expo - Interstate Fair, $50,000

  • HUB Sports Center, $48,400
  • Valleyfest, $18,600

The council also approved transferring $250,000 of the budgeted $572,000 of total expenditures from the Lodging Tax Fund into a separate lodging tax fund account dedicated specifically for future capital costs of a large sports venue or tourism facilities that will generate overnight guests at Spokane Valley lodging facilities.
Generated by a two-percent tax imposed on overnight stays in lodging within the city, Lodging Tax revenues are dedicated specifically to funding efforts that bring visitors to Spokane Valley and have a positive impact on our community's economy.
