With tourism an important part of the region's economy, the Spokane Valley City Council is looking for two volunteers interested in attracting visitors to the city to serve on the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

Applications, which can be found on the city's Web site at spokanevalley.org/volunteer, will be accepted until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.27.

One of the two openings on the LTAC is for an individual representing a business required to collect the lodging tax, and the other is for an individual representing an entity authorized to receive lodging tax funding.

Organizations representing either businesses that collect the tax, or entities qualified to receive lodging tax funding, are also encouraged to send committee member recommendations to the city clerk at the address shown below. Qualified applicants need not be residents of Spokane Valley.

LTAC members are responsible for reviewing lodging tax applications and making recommendations for funding.  Members of the committee are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

Appointments to serve on the LTAC will be for one- or two-year terms effective Jan. 1, 2018, and are tentatively scheduled to be made during the 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 council meeting in the council chambers at City Hall.

Applications must be submitted to:
City Clerk Chris Bainbridge
Spokane Valley City Hall
10210 E. Sprague Ave.
Spokane Valley, WA 99206
