Charges filed in domestic violence death

Managing Editor

A woman was found dead Friday morning at a Newman Lake home, and her boyfriend has been charged with second-degree murder in an incident that occurred on Thanksgiving.
Nicholas L. Holden, 29, was charged and booked into Spokane County Jail on Friday, said Deputy Mark Gregory, sheriff’s spokesman.

Photographs and posts on social media have stated that Tina Stewart, who was found deceased in the 14000 block of North Meadow Lane, was the victim.

Emergency personnel responded to a report of a female with an unknown medical problem and provided medical attention on Friday. However, despite life-saving efforts, fire personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The area was closed for a period of time on Friday. Investigators learned the victim had been physically assaulted prior to death.
The home is reportedly owned by Holden’s father, where the couple had Thanksgiving dinner. The couple apparently had been arguing later that night, and Stewart’s body discovered the following morning.
A judge has set Holden’s bond at $1 million.
