Special filing period for vacant offices Aug.5-7

The Spokane County Elections Office will open a special filing period for several elected positions for which no candidates filed during the regular filing period. The special three-day filing period begins Aug. 5th for the districts listed below:

  • Town of Latah – (Council Position No. 2, 3 and 5)
  • Town of Spangle (Council Position No. 3)
  • Orchard Prairie School District (Director Position No. 3, 4 and 5)
  • Great Northern School District (Director Position No. 1)
  • Riverside School District (Director District No. 2 and 3)
  • Fire District No. 2 – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)
  • Fire District No. 12 – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)
  • East Spokane Water District (Commissioner Position No. 3)
  • Hangman Hills Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 2)
  • Irvin Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 3)
  • Vel-View Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 1, 2 and 3)
  • Whitworth Water District – (Commissioner Position No. 4 and 5)
  • Moran Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 1)
  • Spangle Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 2)
  • Waverly Cemetery District – (Commissioner Position No. 1 and 3)
  • Williams Lake Sewer and Water District (Commissioner Position No. 1)

These vacant positions will appear on the general election ballot. The candidate who receives the most votes will be elected to fill the term. Those interested in filing for one of the vacant positions listed can go to the Spokane County Elections Office at 1033 W. Gardner Ave. between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Aug. 5 through 7, or file online at spokanecounty.org/elections.
