Indiana/Pines, Mirabeau construction to start

09/13/2013

By MIKE HUFFMAN
Managing Editor

Construction work to resurface the pavement on Indiana Avenue, from just east of Pines Road to Mirabeau Parkway, is tentatively scheduled for two weeks beginning in mid-September.
Indiana will be reduced to one lane in each direction around the clock throughout the project. While drivers should expect brief driveway approach closures for up to four hours, access to businesses will remain available. Crews will be in contact with those affected. To alert crews to special circumstances regarding driveway access, contact project engineer Craig Aldworth at 509-720-5001.
The Mirabeau Park and Ride lot will be closed for one day to be announced. Spokane Transit Authority will post the closure date and alternative Park & Ride location once the date has been determined. For more information on the closure, contact STA at 328-RIDE (7433) or visit spokanetransit.com.
The project cost is funded by the city of Spokane Valley Street Preservation Fund.
Drivers are encouraged to observe the speed limits and use particular caution in the work area. Those whose destinations are outside the project area may wish to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. Signs and/or flaggers will direct traffic through the work area. Drivers should expect congestion and brief delays.
