The Friends of the Spokane Valley Library announce the placement of a Little Free Library on the site of the proposed park/library at the corner of Sprague Avenue and Herald Road.
The Little Free Library will be placed on Sept 12 and filled with books before the public meeting on the park/library conceptual site plan at 4 p.m. Stop by between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to see the library and see the plans for the proposed park/library.
Refreshments will be served.
The volunteer group Friends of the Spokane Valley Library will be the stewards for the Balfour Park Little Free Library Charter 8088 on behalf of our neighbors and our community as part of the city of Spokane Valley 10th anniversary celebration.
The Friends of the Library stock the Little Free Library with a variety of good quality books that we hope will interest neighbors. Books can be borrowed and returned, and book donations are welcomed.
Little Free Library is a movement started in 2010 and has grown to include little libraries in most states and dozens of countries. Little Free Library’s mission is to:

  • Promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.
  • Foster a sense of community and connection as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations.
  • Build more than 2,510 libraries around the world (the number of “real” libraries built by Andrew Carnegie).
